Kendal at Granville is a non-profit continuing care retirement community located on 93 acres in rural Granville, Ohio. Housing at Kendal is comprised of apartments, cottages, and villas, which collectively house the over 130 residents who have made Kendal at Granville their home. The 95,358 square foot, $12 million expansion included 24 new apartments, 7 new assisted living residences, a 32-bed skilled nursing addition, and a new multipurpose area. Renovations involved the conversion of their existing skilled care facility into an assisted living facility, as well as updates to their cafe and assisted living dining area. Split-system high-efficiency gas furnaces were integrated into the design to condition the new apartment building, and a geothermal heat pump system was utilized for the new skilled care building. A cost payback analysis of multiple HVAC systems was conducted to ensure that the Owner selected the right system to suit their needs. Reese Hackman provided complete mechanical, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and low voltage systems design services for this project, which will help Kendal continue its tradition of providing their residents with both independence and high-quality care.
